Safety Stand Down
AGC Houston and the Safety Committee are pleased to announce that the 2018 Safety Stand Down will take place during May 7-18, 2018
. Since 2015, AGC Houston has aligned its Safety Stand-Down program with OSHA - and extended it one additional week. Last year, 125 AGC Houston member companies—representing nearly 18,000 construction workers—took part in safety talks and demonstrations across the Houston footprint.
For the past 15 years, Houston members have been key supporters of the event - leading safety performances at the city, state and national levels.
For the past three years, AGC Houston has conducted its Safety Stand-Down for two weeks to increase member participation. Companies
of all sizes conduct toolbox talks (both in English and in Spanish) on a variety of topics such as identifying specific hazards, safety
equipment inspections, accident prevention and conducting rescue plans. “Exposing construction workers to safety demonstrations
throughout our members’ area jobsites is an effective way to demonstrate common hazards of a jobsite, particularly as they relate to
falls and common accidents,” stated AGC Houston Director of Safety Services, Kim Mason
