Houston Members Garner Top Safety Awards At AGC of America Convention
Congratulations to AGC Houston members W.S. Bellows Construction Corp., Tellepsen, Rogers-O’Brien Construction, Chamberlin Roofing & Waterproofing, Peterson Beckner Industries, Inc. and to Polk Mechanical, who were recognized for Safety Excellence at the Willis Towers Watson Safety Awards breakfast March 11, 2020, in conjunction with the AGC of America Convention in Las Vegas.
The competition began in January, with each company’s application being judged by members of the national AGC Safety and Health Committee. Companies were graded on their overall safety and health program, employee involvement in safety, their management’s commitment to safety and injury and incident rates for the past three years. The finalists were announced in February and then competed at the AGC National Convention in Las Vegas in front of a panel of prominent industry experts
Finalists had just over a month to prepare a presentation to the judges. In that time, they reviewed, rehearsed, and refined their responses down to seconds. The presentations, limited to just five minutes, have come to highlight the premier safety practices in commercial construction.
AGC Houston is proud of these six member companies who were recognized for their outstanding safety and health programs and records! This marked the 21st year AGC of America has held the Construction Safety Excellence Awards—a nationally-coveted award, which recognizes construction companies in the following divisions: Building; Construction Management; Utility Infrastructure; Service Provider & Supplier; Heavy; Specialty; and Highway.
